General Rules for all Competitions

  • All models must comply with the 80db noise limit

  • Models may be i/c or electric powered with a fixed wing span between 30” and 72”

  • The pilot must be positioned in the pilot box for the full period of the round from take off to landing.

  • Should the weather on the day of the competition be such that it is decided that it is unsafe for the competition to take place a new date if possible will be agreed and published.

  • All competitors on the day of the competition will act as judges with the final say being with the competition organiser in any split decisions.

ROLL AND LIMBO

  • An attempt will be a take-off circuit followed by a circuit incorporating a roll and flying under the tape followed by a landing circuit.

  • Each contestant will take it in turns to attempt to fly their model under the tape without it touching the tape, supporting poles and the ground. Two attempts at flying under the tape are allowed in one flight and if unsuccessful at this stage they are deemed to be excluded. If they succeed they will progress to the next round when the tape will be lowered.

  • Attempts will be made by each remaining contestant in turn to fly their model under the tape at the new height until only one successful contestant remains and they will be declared the winner.

DEAD STICK SPOT LANDING

  • With the a/c ready on the runway and pilot positioned in the pilot box . The pilot will open the throttles at which point the stop watch will be started. The pilot will takeoff and climb for 30 SECONDS at which point the pilot will be told to reduce the throttle to idle and/ or off for electric and perform a dead stick landing with the aim to land with the wheels first touching the runway within the marked areas.

  • Once the aircraft motor has been switched off the aircraft must land within 3 minutes.

  • Any pilot who nose dives or deliberately causes their model to land heavy sustaining damage will be disqualified from that round.

  • Points will be awarded as follows:-

  • The bomb must be released from a height of between 10 and 25feet with the aim of it first landing within the marked out area.

  • One bomb only should released during any one attempt “ Cluster bombing is forbidden”.

  • The contest will consist of 2 rounds. For each round the pilot must take off and complete one circuit. The pilot then has up to two circuits in which to drop their bomb after which they should land.

  • Points will be awarded as follows:-

15 points for the bomb landing in the centre area

10 points for the bomb landing in the next outer area

An attempt ends when any part of the model touches the ground except that one rolling over shoot is permitted where the hook fails to engage an arrester wire and this can be accomplished in the number of permitted circuits.

  • Points will be awarded as follows:-

Model landed “on deck” arrester wire engaged model upright and engine still running. = 20 points.

Model landed “on deck” arrester wire engaged model upright but engine stopped = 15 points.

  • The aircraft used must be ready for flight with the wings fitted.

  • After the aircraft is placed at the start the pilot must remain in the pilot’s box for the duration.

  • The course will be laid out along the length of the runway as follows:-

  • A starting point cone. 3 cones positioned length wise down the runway. 2 balloons tethered to the ground across the runway, and finally 2 cones for the finish line.

  • The task will be to taxi the aircraft from the start point to the side of the first cone and then through the gap between the first and second cones. Turn the aircraft and taxi between the second and third cones. Then continue down the runway and burst one of the 2 balloons and finish with the aircraft crossing the line between the 2 cones marking the finish.

  • The run will be TIMED and the fasted run will be the winner. (I will devise a handicap system for the less experienced or have 2 classes)

  • Penalties will be added for hitting cones or not completing one of the tasks.
