WThe committee is asking if you can help with ground maintenance work party to refurbish the runways only on the area where the Fairy rings (basidiomycetes) are located.
Often the Fairy rings will produce a thick fungal mat that prevents water from reaching the grass roots below.
Once the soil becomes dry, like it did last summer, it is very difficult to wet and the grass roots eventually die.
We are planning to
Fork the ground to break up the soil. Then fertilise, grass seed and new top soil to regenerate the area.
Your help would be greatly appreciated,
The tools that you need to bring with you are definitely Fork, possibly a Rake and Shovel.
We have set aside Saturday 23 March at around 10:30am.
Whilst the work is, being carried out. For safety reasons, there will be no flying.
The more people we have the better, and quicker it will be done.
It should not take no more, than a couple of hours. After that, flying can resume.
There will also be a barbecue.
Because we do not know how many of you will be coming or what the weather will be like. You will have to provide your own food for the barbecue.
We will provide the tomato ketchup, mustard, fried onions, and paper kitchen towel.
Hopefully the thing you normally would expect.
Just bring something to throw on the Barbie and some bread.
