Notices by date of issue
March 15th 2010
Hi All
It would be sensible to remind ourselves of our obligations under our planning consent that prohibits flying closer to the bridleway than 100metres east of it...in other words you must not fly any further west than about 20metres beyond the helipad at the western end of the east /west runway,... please do your very best to comply with this requirement and particularly if you notice anyone on the bridleway either on foot or on horseback delay your take off (if to the west). or if airborne offset your circuit to the east (right hand end) and if possible and safe to do so delay your landing (if from the west) or alternately ,if safe to do so ,use the north/south runway until the bridleway is clear.
Thanks for your cooperation in these measures which hopefully will demonstrate our consideration of bridleway users and avoid upsetting them unnecessarily
regards
Safety Notice..
There has been recent publicity advising that in electric models batteries should be disconnected while not flying to avoid the possibility of accidentally throttling up either by inadvertent nudging of the throttle stick on owners transmitter or by receiving spurious signals from other transmitters

We are again running the PILOT of the YEAR competition for NADMAS members
The rules will be the same as last year but as you will remember they tend to become a bit flexible on the day by competitors majority consent.
As before the competition is open to any competent flyer who is a member of NADMAS and any powered fixed wing model with a wingspan of at least 30"
(there will be a simplified scoring system which will hopefully lead to a closer fought leader board than last year)
the dates of the contests are planned as follows (weather permitting)
10th April spot landing
22ndMay Limbo
12th June Bomb Drop
17th July Carrier deck landing
11th sept slalom
Please remember that the club hold fuel for the members, we have both 5% and 10% available, please speak to a committee member.

Indoor Flying
Rob Jepson has once again organized indoor flying for the forthcoming winter. This is a great opportunity to fly during the winter period when the weather makes it difficult to fly outside. If you have never tried it then your missing out. Even if your new to flying there are models out there such as the Park zone Vapor that can be flown with ease. We have again hired the sports hall over in Compton starting in October. Come down and have a look for yourself, it is worth it!

5-04-09 Nadmas 2009 Competition UPDATED
Please see the competition page that Rob has sent updates for--Link
Hi All
To enable as many members as possible to enter the competition the following dates have been changed;-
Because of Easter weekend the spot landing contest originally scheduled for saturday 11th April will now be held on saturday 18th April Because of a clash of dates with the Model Airshow at Blackbush the Limbo contest originally scheduled for saturday 16th May will now be held on saturday 9th May
Attachments this mail show the detailed rules of each contest...which are more or less self explanatory but if you have any queries please ask me and i will endeavour to clarify things.
Also a picture of SLEC`s bomb and pictures of my interpretation of the same with release mechanism ....along with an arrester hook using the same hardware. To answer one question .....you do not need to use the same model throughout the whole competition (choosing the most suitable airframe for each contest is all part of the fun and skill) but you cannot change model during the course of an individual contest.
Along with a certificate there will be an inexpensive and slightly useful prize for the winner of each contest and a slightly less inexpensive and marginally more useful prize for the winner of the competition overall.
S
so lets hope the weather holds good and we all have some fun with this

3-3-09-NADMAS 2009 Competition
Hi ALL
further to Steve's reference to a competition this year I attach a draft of the general rules of the competition (SEE LINK HERE)
They are not as draconian as you might at first think and when read in conjunction with the specific contest rules (which will be published later) they will make more sense.
However at the club night on 25th March there will be a forum to fine tune the rules where necessary and to discuss the competition generally
I will have a working bomb drop and arrester hook mechanism from which you may glean some ideas for your own..
Chris white will be telling us about his microlight experiences and there may be time for some moderate indoor flying after (if the hall is available by then)
I look forward to seeing you there
Meanwhile we have an indoor flying session at the Downland Recreation Centre (Downs School) Compton on Sunday 8th March 10am to 1pm
£4 for flyers £1 spectators always good fun
regards
Robj
