Contest Report ................................... Limbo 22nd May 2010

Round 1 Tape 6ft 6ins Cenk flew his high wing trainer easily under the tape on his first pass ,as did Rod ,also flying a high wing trainer.Brian ,unnerved after an “adventurous” roll broke the tape with his Cougar on his first pass. Paul passed under the tape at a leisurely pace on his first pass, Derek`s first pass with his High Boy was successful and without incident. Rob flew his Dynasport under the tape on his first pass but had to retire after a heavy landing due to the covering lifting on one wing.Malcolm flying his electric glider passed under the tape already tip staling and dumped on the runway just after.Joe made a slow low first pass undedr the tape 5 survivors to the next round

Round 2 Tape 5ft 6ins Cenk and Rod both passed under the tape on their first pass with Rod narrowly avoiding a touchdown before climb out.Paul holding his model just off the stall passed under the tape on his first pass .Derek after a high approach ducked under the tape on his first pass and Joe held the wheels 12” above the grass as he flew under the tape on his first pass. 5 through to round 3

Round 3 Tape 4ft 6ins Cenk approached very low and easily made it under the tape .Rod followed with an almost identical pass. Paul fighting a misbehaving model passed over the tape and nosed into the runway immediately after.Derek failed to pass under the tape on either pass. After an erratic approach Joe failed to pass under the tape on both passes. 2 go forward to round 4

Round 4 Tape 3ft 6ins Cenk held a steady approach to pass under the tape without drama. Rod with a less steady approach was climbing as he passed under the tape and brushed it with his wings but it remained intact ,so a successful pass. Both to go to the next round

Round 5 Tape 3ft Cenk flew under the tape on his first pass with only a slivver of daylight under the wheels Rod flew over the tape on his first pass but was successful on his second pass. At this point ,given the opportunity of a further round Rod conceded as Cenk had gained a small advantage by succeeding on his first pass `

This was an exciting contest with some highly skilled flying .Thanks to all the contestants for participating and for the spectators who gave up their flying time and oo`d and aahed at the appropriate times. A big thanks to those who helped with the course and the judging. And a special thank you to Ellis who so expertly kept the score sheet throughout the contest
